OUR STORY


As a food scientist, Nicholas Jose’s usual routine involves compounding citrus oils, handling liquid nitrogen, and participating in triangle tests. Although he was adept at what he does from 9-5, at the end of the day, he left work with a missing feeling he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

Then, in mid-2022, Nicholas was struck with a compelling idea:

“What if I started a mobile bar business?”

This was the question that ultimately got the snowball rolling. The thought of starting your own business and becoming your own boss was an intimidating thought, to say the least, but Nicholas knew that this opportunity was exactly what he was looking for.

Blending citrus oils for a corporation was one thing, but mixing, shaking, stirring, and even torching cocktails for enthusiastic guests at a party was an experience no lab could ever copy.

And so, in July 2022, Nicholas founded The Silver Glass Mobile Bar, LLC; and from September 2022 to February 2023, he – with some help from his younger brother, who is skilled in woodcrafting – built the “Silver Bar”, a full-service bar with wheels and a self-contained sink system.

GETTING STARTED


STEP 1: PLANNING


To get started, first check to see if:

1) your venue’s policy allows outside vendors, 2) there is enough space for our mobile bar to setup, and 3) the mobile bar has access to power, or if an electric generator will be needed.

Once you have gathered all the details for your event, fill out and submit the form found here.


STEP 2: BOOKING


Upon receiving your form, we will check our availability and respond to your inquiry within 48 hours by emailing you a contract and a detailed quote.

Not satisfied with the quote? No worries! Simply reach out to us and we will offer recommendations to make our final price more affordable and budget-friendly.

Once we receive both the signed contract and the 50% non-refundable retainer fee, your event will be booked.


STEP 3: CONSULTATION


Two weeks before the date of your event, we will email you a shopping list of what recommended quantities and brands of alcohol you should purchase for your finalized cocktail menu.

Note: The amount and brand of alcohol are only suggestions and can be purchased from any liquor store of your choice.


STEP 4: FINAL PAYMENT


In addition to the shopping list of recommended quantities and brands of alcohol you should purchase for your finalized cocktail menu, we will also email you an invoice for the final amount due.

STEP 5: EVENT DAY


Three hours (or one day) before your event, we will arrive at the venue to retrieve the alcohol and prepare the bar area.

(If the client chose to pay the final amount of the invoice in cash or check, we will collect the final payment before setting up the bar.)

Once everything has been set up, the bar is officially open!


STEP 6: CONCLUSION


(One day) after the conclusion of your event, we will begin breaking down and cleaning up the bar area. The alcohol you purchased will be set aside for you in a designated area.

If you have saved your receipt, any unopened bottles of alcohol can be returned for a refund – or saved for the next party!

A: To request a quote, click on the GET A QUOTE button to get started. After you have filled out and submitted all of the requested information, we will send you a contract with the final price. Once we receive both the signed contract and the non-refundable 50% retainer fee, your date will be booked.

A: All of our packages include: 1 bartender, general liability insurance, liquor liability insurance, bar consultation, no-charge travel up to 20 miles, barware, and menu board.

A: Unfortunately, due to New Jersey liquor laws, we legally cannot provide you the alcohol. However, once you have a finalized menu of what cocktails we should make, we will send you a list of what alcohols to purchase. This flexibility not only allows you to buy your alcohol at retail price, with no additional markup, and at any liquor store, but you can also select your favorite brands and save money. Additionally, any unopened bottles of alcohol can simply be returned – or saved for a later party!

A: Yes, we carry both general liability and liquor liability insurance for every event and, if requested, can provide you with copies.

A: The Silver Glass Mobile Bar is based out of Springfield, NJ and will travel up to 20 miles for free; however, for any location greater than 20 miles away, we will charge a travel fee of $2.00 per mile, both ways, to cover for gas and tolls.

A: Yes. Under New Jersey liquor law, we are required to ask guests for identification that shows they are of legal drinking age. Serving alcohol to minors is illegal and we take this offense very seriously.

A: If the venue allows it, then yes, we do serve shots; however, to ensure the safety of our staff and your guests, we reserve the right to refuse shot/drink service to anyone who appears to be intoxicated.

A: A 50% retainer fee and a signed contract is required to reserve the date and time for your event. The retainer fee is non-refundable, as we’ve turned away other clients in order to reserve your date. If you cancel your event at least 14 days prior to the event date, we will waive the remaining balance of the total fees agreed upon; otherwise, cancelling your event within the 14-day time frame will require you to make the full remaining payment to us that’s due before the event date. In the event that The Silver Glass Mobile Bar cancels on you, all monies paid to us will be fully refunded.

A: Unfortunately, due to our advanced scheduling system, we cannot accommodate cancellations due to rain or other inclement weather conditions. We can, however, accommodate a rain date within one week of your booked event so long as your chosen rain date is available. Otherwise, we are more than happy to work with your vendor to find the appropriate size tent for our mobile bar. Tent size must be more than 9 ft tall for our mobile bar to fit inside.

A: Throwing a summer pool party with a bunch of friends? Is your dad hosting a barbeque for his buddies in the backyard again? Maybe a surprise birthday celebration is in the works, or your BFF from high school is finally having her bridal shower. You get the idea: from dinner rehearsals to engagement parties, from graduations to corporate events, and from wedding anniversaries to holiday gatherings – whatever the occasion may be, you can always count on The Silver Glass to fill your glass.

A: If you are hosting an event on private property, you will not need to secure a permit to serve alcohol; however, if a venue does require such a permit, it is the client’s responsibility to obtain it. If you have any questions regarding permits, please contact your local municipality or police department for more information.

A: Because our mobile “Silver Bar” is one of a kind, our availability is very limited. Therefore, it is better to book us as soon as possible – the earlier, the better!

A: If you give us notice at least 14 days prior to the event date, we will give you a new non-refundable 25% retainer fee to reschedule your event within 6 months following the originally scheduled event date.

A: We have a capacity to serve up to 75 guests.

A: We accept the following forms of payment:

1) Cash – Final payment is due on the day of the event before our mobile bar service begins.

2) Check – Final payment is due 2 weeks prior to the event.

3) Credit Card – Final payment is due on the day of the event before our mobile bar service begins. Client is responsible for paying all service fees.

4) Venmo – Final payment is due 2 weeks prior to the event.

A: Because every event is unique, there is no fixed price to hire us. Our prices are customized to meet the client’s specific needs and calculated based on several factors, including guest count, the type of package chosen, the duration of the event, how far the venue is, and how many different cocktails the bartender will prepare. A: No. Because we do not possess a liquor license, we cannot collect money in exchange for alcoholic beverages. As such, The Silver Glass Mobile Bar is an open bar reserved for private events only.

A: Tips are handled in one of two ways:

1) Allow a tip jar to be placed on the counter of the mobile bar for guests, or

2) Remove the tip jar completely and opt for “hosted gratuity”, in which the host pays a 20% gratuity of the total cost of the bartending services.

A: The dimensions of the “Silver Bar” are 63.5” L x 39.5” W x 44.0” H.

A: We typically need about 3 hours before the start of the event to set up the bar area and 1 hour after the event to it break down.

A: To accommodate the mobile bar and the table for the bar back, we would need an area approximately 5’ x 10’ large.

A: If your event requires an earlier setup and a later breakdown, please let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to fulfill your request.

A: For our self-contained sink system to work, the mobile bar needs access to a standard 110v outlet at the event’s location. If electricity is not accessible at your venue or property, we can provide a generator for an additional fee of $200.

A: For the water supply, The Silver Glass Mobile Bar comes prepared with two 7 gallon water containers; however, should the containers run empty, we require a water source from either a nearby garden tap or kitchen sink to replenish them.

A: As a small business, we only have 1 bartender available.

A: Yes, our bartender is TIPS certified.
